Amy Oldroyd’s creative side comes in perfectly in her role as Senior Practitioner in Big Inventors, our room at Bowburn for children aged 3 to 4.
The 32-year-old enjoys pottering at home, whether it’s making photo frames or playing with glitter and that means the children benefit at the nursery too.
Amy, who has been at Clever Clogs for 15 years, says: “When the children leave us to start school, I make them little mementos of their stay, so they have something to remember us by.
“You can’t fail to become attached and it’s always emotional when they leave, especially as many of them have been with since they were babies.
“But we still see some of them come back to after school and holiday club and it’s nice to see how they have developed as people.”
Amy has worked in all the room as Clever Clogs during her time with us but likes Big Inventors the best.
She explains: “By this age, they start to mimic what you do as adults, such as write things on a clipboard, and pretend they are doing your job.
“There’s not many jobs where you can laugh and generally be silly, and that for me is one of the best things about what I do.”
When she’s not working and being creative, Amy enjoys spending time with her partner and their dog, going for walks and socialising with her friends.
