Helen Wressell gave up a “mundane” office job to become an Early Years Practitioner and “make a difference.”
She is now making this difference at Clever Clogs after joining us as a Senior Practitioner in April 2022, working in Little Badgers, our room for children aged 2-3.
With 15 years’ experience in nursery settings, including a stint as a Deputy Manager at a former workplace, Helen is a good example of the high calibre of people we are able to recruit in the nursery.
After starting her career doing something completely different, she says she is happy with her decision to retrain in her mid-20s.
“You often make different decisions when you are younger and I followed he crowd by going to work in an office, but it was every day was mundane and I knew it was not the job for me,” she explains.
“I had always enjoyed babysitting when I was younger, and I aspired to make a difference and to play a part in the education and development of children.”
After going back to ‘college’ Helen achieved her Level 3 in Childcare and is now settling well in Little Badgers.
She adds: “I have been made to feel very welcome by the staff and it is lovely getting to know the children and parents, so coming to Clever Clogs was definitely the right step for me.
“You can see it is an outstanding nursery from the way things are set up and the excellent management and leadership which is in place.
“I am happy to be in Little Badgers as I particularly enjoy working with children under 3 because you can help to shape and mold them and play an important part in their early years development.”
Outside of work, Helen, 43, enjoys travelling, reading, and going to the theatre.
