Clever Clogs Bowburn has been rated outstanding by Ofsted for the second consecutive time, with the inspector highlighting our “caring and nurturing environment” and “excellent staff role models”, among the many positive comments.
The nursery has ben described as outstanding in all the areas looked at during the inspection, namely overall effectiveness, the quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development and leadership and management.
Describing Clever Clogs as “very inclusive and welcoming”, the Ofsted inspector noted how children learn important skills for life through a wide range of “exciting and challenging” activities. This includes learning to use real tools, such as scissors, safely and skilfully and how to pour their own drinks and serve their own food, which supports their physical skills and growing independence.
Staff were described by the inspector as being “excellent role models” who provide “sensitive and skillful” support to the children.
The report says: “Staff clearly praise children’s efforts and encourage their achievements. This helps raise children’s confidence and self-esteem.
“Relationships between children and staff are superb. Children quickly form close bonds with staff, who are respectful, caring and kind.”
The report goes on to highlight the strong links Clever Clogs has built with local schools, which helps with the transition from nursery to school, as well as the outstanding support it provides to children with special educational needs and/or disabilities.
The nursery management team was also praised, with the inspector noting the “excellent” support for the continuous professional development of staff.
The report adds: The manager and staff are dedicated to their work and the children and families in their care.”
Andrea Townsley, Owner of Clever Clogs, said: “We are delighted to have retained our outstanding status following the recent inspection by Ofsted.
“It is testament to the tremendous staff team who work hard each and every day to ensure the children who attend the nursery receive the very best early years education.
“We also could not achieve this without the amazing support we receive from our parents, and it was particularly satisfying to get such positive feedback from them in the report.”
