Clever Clogs Bowburn Assistant Manager Jane White only had one ambition in life when it came to her career and that was to work in childcare.
She even went further than most and did a Degree in Childhood Studies to give her an even greater understanding of early years learning and development.
Jane has worked in childcare for 16 years, most of these in settings in North Yorkshire where she has lived most of her life.
Anna-Bella Robinson says one of the best things about working in a room with children aged 2-3 is seeing them become more independent.
“It’s a lovely age because they are starting to develop their own little personalities and you see their learning progress day by day,” she explains.
Grace Whittle’s mum worked in childcare and her dad coaching youth football teams, so she says she was always destined to ‘keep it in the family’ and follow the same career herself.
Aged 24 and with a Level 3 qualification in childcare, Grace joined Clever Clogs Belmont in February 2023 and is working in Little Badgers, our room for children aged 2-3.
“This is my favourite age group to work with because at this stage you start to have real conversations with the children and they can tell you how they feel and what they would like to do,” she says.
Beth Knott did her student placement at Clever Clogs and enjoyed it so much that when the chance of joining permanently on an Apprenticeship came up, there was no hesitation in saying yes!
Beth, 16, says she has wanted to work with children as long as she remembers.
“I loved playing teachers when I was young and I have a younger brother with autism, so there was nothing else I wanted to do,” she says.
Our newest member of staff at Clever Clogs Belmont is Molly Forster, who is really excited to work with our pre-school children.
Chelsea is our new Senior for our Clever Thinkers room at Clever Clogs Bowburn.
She has lots of experience in private nurseries and is passionate for supporting children to reach the best of their abilities, including supporting children with additional needs.
Amy Haywood has lots of experience supporting children whilst working in a school for children with additional needs. She has joined us here at Clever Clogs and is excited to share this with us and is eager to adapt to nursery life.
Following the arrival of her son, Amy chose to spend time at home and when she was ready to return to work a nursery was her first choice.
Katelin Elliott’s dream was to work in childcare for as long as she remembers.
At college she completed placements at a primary and secondary school but says she always wanted to work with younger children.
Helen Wressell gave up a “mundane” office job to become an Early Years Practitioner and “make a difference.”
She is now making this difference at Clever Clogs after joining us as a Senior Practitioner in April 2022, working in Little Badgers, our room for children aged 2-3.
With 15 years’ experience in nursery settings, including a stint as a Deputy Manager at a former workplace, Helen is a good example of the high calibre of people we are able to recruit in the nursery.
Rachael Bland is no stranger to Clever Clogs having worked previously in the nursery, so we were delighted to welcome her back recently.
She first joined in 2017 and now, whilst studying for a degree in business management, she has returned to work on a part-time basis in our after-school/holiday club.
This includes picking up the children from school and bringing them back to the nursery for wraparound care and in the school, holidays putting on activities for children up to the age of 11.
