The Clever Clogs nursery group is the only one in the North East to be named among the top 20 recommended providers in the UK.
We have been included in the top 20 small nursery groups for 2023 by the UK’s leading nursery review website, www.daynurseries.co.uk.
This is based on ratings and comments posted by parents at our three settings – Clever Clogs Belmont, Clever Clogs Bowburn and Little Ladybirds Day Nursery in Stockton – over a 12-month qualifying period.
Clever Clogs Bowburn has been rated outstanding by Ofsted for the second consecutive time, with the inspector highlighting our “caring and nurturing environment” and “excellent staff role models”, among the many positive comments.
The nursery has ben described as outstanding in all the areas looked at during the inspection, namely overall effectiveness, the quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development and leadership and management.
Clever Clogs Bowburn Assistant Manager Jane White only had one ambition in life when it came to her career and that was to work in childcare.
She even went further than most and did a Degree in Childhood Studies to give her an even greater understanding of early years learning and development.
Jane has worked in childcare for 16 years, most of these in settings in North Yorkshire where she has lived most of her life.
For many parents who had babies during one of the Covid-19 pandemic lockdowns, choosing a nursery for their children was a daunting experience, but in Nicole Johnston’s case she already had the perfect referral.
That’s because Nicole’s daughter Lily attended Clever Clogs Bowburn so when she had her second child Lachlan during the pandemic, she had no hesitation in registering him at the nursery.
Nicole explains: “I needed childcare for Lachlan when I had to go back to work and despite having several closer day nurseries I opted for Clever Clogs as my daughter went here a couple of years prior, so I knew how good it was.
Chelsea is our new Senior for our Clever Thinkers room at Clever Clogs Bowburn.
She has lots of experience in private nurseries and is passionate for supporting children to reach the best of their abilities, including supporting children with additional needs.
Jess Lowes is one of Clever Clogs’ newest members of staff and is working in our Little Explorers room for children aged two.
Jess, 24, says she always wanted to work in childcare, having had hands-on experience caring for younger family members as she was growing up.
Choosing a nursery for your child is difficult at any time but doing this during a global pandemic makes it even harder.
Luckily for mum-of-one Kathryn Watson, she was able to lean on people she knows for good advice, and this led her to the doors of Clever Clogs Bowburn.
Kathryn’s daughter, Alexandra, was born at the very start of the pandemic in 2022 and with her return to full-time work (Kathryn works as an estates surveyor) from maternity planned for early 2021, she needed to find a suitable day nursery.
As a nursery school/early years teacher, Anna Hall was well placed when it came to choosing a setting for her own daughter.
After being recommended two nurseries in her area, she visited both but knew immediately when she stepped foot in Clever Clogs Bowburn that we were the one.
Anna explains: “I teach in a nursery pre-school and have taught reception in the past, so I knew the sorts of things I was looking for and I found that at Clever Clogs.
Catherine Mann originally though she was headed for a career as a social worker until work experience at a nursery changed her mind altogether.
